Top 10 Smartphone Releases in January 2022

10. Motorola X4

Although this is an old favourite of ours, even our grandparents used this phone back in the day and they loved its sleek design and style appeal. This brand is still doing something very clever when it comes to their latest release. The company will soon introduce a whole range of phones to include both premium and affordable alternatives. To keep the price high, they’re planning on introducing two variants of this phone – the Snapdragon 732 and the OnePlus 810+ as well. All of these different versions will have flagship specs such as the 6.6GHz octa-core mobile processor and Qualcomm Adreno 600 GPU (which should give you decent performance). Finally, they’re going to add 4K Ultra HD video recording which will make your movies look just as good. These big upgrades alone will see Motorola reach millions of users. The brand recently announced three colour options in partnership with LG and ZTE too.

9. Samsung Galaxy S20 series

This upcoming model is an extremely exciting venture. At least, on paper, it seems. We saw how great the chipset was in previous models and also how fast the screen looks. Now we have a completely upgraded version of the device that combines all the power of the previous models within a compact form factor. Samsung also added wireless charging which will allow the device to automatically detect whether the user is placing the device on the table or not. What’s special about this year was the introduction of stereo speakers on the S20 Series smartphones. They will offer dual-mic sound and are expected to deliver incredible sound quality. The phone now supports HDR10+ which will significantly improve the image quality. Since this is a flagship, it uses the most powerful chipset available and features better camera performance. Thanks to this S20 Series smartphone, Samsung becomes the first company to launch two flagship Galaxy smartphones in a row. If they can hold off Apple then it’s easy to imagine a future where smartphones are more and more powerful and more and more intelligent as time goes on. And with five colours being supported, you will not want to miss out on getting one of these new phones as part of any holiday gift.

8. Huawei Mate 40 Pro

This latest Huawei handset comes with several notable updates as part of its latest launch. Firstly, it has the industry’s fastest storage speeds at 3.5 billion MB/s. The main feature is of course its super-premium display but Huawei is adding unique haptic feedback and AI that will help the UI respond perfectly to your actions and perform tasks flawlessly. Its cameras are already quite impressive too. You don’t have to worry about having a bad experience with your phone because it’s capable of recognizing your facial expressions and will adjust itself accordingly. Lastly, Huawei is using artificial intelligence to analyse images, identify patterns and recognise if it should zoom too far into the frame to capture the scene better. Overall, I think Huawei knows exactly what type of user the phone fits and who its targeted. Their focus on innovation and technology is truly commendable. As a result, Huawei has always kept my heart beating faster.

7. Moto G21 Powertrain

Moto continues to push boundaries with its recent launches. Last year the Japanese luxury brand launched this revamped smartphone and it’s even more astonishing that it’s the second best performing car of them all. As a result, he launched new products in 2019 and made his mark ever since. However, as much as we would love to see motorcycles make their way onto motorbikes and cars – the truth is that this is probably far from possible. While the Moto G21 boasts superior power, excellent battery life, smooth processing speed, outstanding battery life and even the best resolution, yet the manufacturer still doesn’t have anything remotely close to a competitive edge. For the sake of time and safety reasons, Moto will continue racing under modified racing rules for the rest of 2021 but they’ll be looking to develop a new model that will be able to race on track in 2020 and also in 2023.

6. Redmi Note 10 Lite

It’s no secret that Xiaomi is pushing the limits of the smartphone market. As a result the Chinese tech giant has released four phones and over 30 devices since 2014 – the Xiaomi Mi 9 and Mi 10 series, the Mi 11 series and finally the latest Redmi Note10 Lite. Although this is undoubtedly the highlight of each product release in recent years, the Redmi Note10 Lite might be the most interesting of all. It packs a massive 2,836mAh battery, a powerful quad-camera array, a 48MP selfie camera – it’s essentially the perfect smartphone. The phone is powered by MediaTek Helio G35 chipset, which will enable a lightning speed response and ensure perfect connectivity with apps and the internet. The device has a 120Hz touch sampling rate and it can handle intense pressure. A lot of people were impressed with this handset and many will definitely buy it.

5. Realme Narzo 20 Pro Maxi Edition

The last smartphone from Realme was the Narzo 20 series. It offered a massive 108% increase in battery life as compared to the original Narzo 20 which lasted less than half a year. This device continued to provide users excellent performance thanks to the fact that every single aspect of the device was considered equally important. The device was never compromised on any aspect and instead maintained perfect balance between performance and value. So although the original Narzo 20 Pro sold a whopping 25 million units in just 12 months, the newer Narzo Narzo 20 Pro Max has managed to surpass this figure in the past year. Thanks to its large-capacity, high-energy efficiency batteries, the mobile phone has been praised by everyone. Due to this, the name is becoming synonymous with reliability, ease of use, speed, quality and low cost. The device also offers a number of advantages that makes it easily accessible to consumers. One of which is that it weighs just 75g, which is equivalent to 5kgs in total. Another advantage is that the device runs on Android 11 but it doesn’t support Wi-Fi and is completely unlocked and it doesn’t contain a SIM card. Lastly, the device can connect to Bluetooth and it is free of the pesky bloatware which could potentially damage the device due to exposure during extended use. The latter is especially true considering today smartphones are evolving so quickly and smartphones are changing hands. After all, it is the only device on the planet that can survive the current chaos.

4. Pixel Buds Z2

In case you haven’t heard of this device yet, it’s actually the successor to the popular Z1 – hence the moniker. Unlike the former device, the Z2 is smaller and easier to carry compared to the regular Pixel Buds and doesn’t pack a powerful system inside. Instead, it has a plastic housing and a small micro SD card slot. The ear size is a bit larger but it’s still manageable and allows for enough space for the user without giving up too much space. The device’s IP54 rating means it is dust- and water-resistant and comes with anti-glare glass which helps prevent fingerprints and smudges. Google made huge efforts to make sure that the device stays safe even after multiple drops that occur in various parts of the house. Despite this, the device has been criticised for not offering the ideal fit and comfort. In addition, the Pixel Buds Z2 has a terrible battery life and its inability to work seamlessly with others meant it was unable to meet expectations while competing against cheaper competitors. With those points covered, it’s hard to see how this device will be a success outside of China.

3. Redmi K30 5G

The Redmi K30 is now officially the smallest Redmi phone in recent times. Like previous Mi devices, it packs an exceptionally durable 144Hz AMOLED display, a 48MP primary camera, 6GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage. In addition, it packs Dimensity 700U chipset and the same Exynos 9820 chipset that powers the Redmi 9series. The device is designed to be incredibly simple to use. It consists of a flipside camera, a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, MicroSD port and dual sim card slots. However, unlike previous Redmi phones, this device isn‘t designed for mass production. According to reports, Xiaomi claims that up to 70 per cent of sales will be done online so as to reduce costs, and thus, the popularity of the Redmi
